Air Turbines: Disadvantages

Air turbines have very small number of disadvantages:

• Height restrictions: currently Magenn units are limited to 1000ft maximum altitude.

• Air turbines permanently deployed over 150ft will require a document/permission from the FAA that lets the pilots know of its presence (a NOTAM). However, it is not difficult to obtain.

• It is possible for the balloon unit to detach from its tether and escape, however Magenn units are equipped with an automatic deflation system, so it doesn't drift away.
